02 Scope

The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 govern the storage of information on, and access to information stored on, a user’s terminal equipment. That requirement is not confined to cookies: it extends to local storage, which this website uses. It is treated in this notice on the same basis as a cookie. The website does not write to cache storage.

03 Information stored on your device

Local storage. Strictly necessary. Records the consent preference you have selected and the date on which it was given, so that the preference is not requested again on each page. Contains no identifier and is retained until you clear your browser data.

Local storage. Strictly necessary. Set only where you complete the eligibility declaration on the PPN factsheet, and records that the declaration has been made so that it is not requested again on this device. The declaration itself is recorded by us, as described in section 3 of the Privacy Policy.

04 Consent categories

The consent banner presents four standard categories. Two are not in use on this website, and are stated as such rather than presented as active.

Strictly necessary

Always active. Comprises the consent record and, where applicable, the record of the eligibility declaration. Consent is not required for these items and they cannot be disabled.

Functional

Not used. The website previously stored a copy of the media used on the home page in cache storage under this heading. It no longer does so. The media is served with a long-lived immutable cache directive and is retained, if at all, by the browser’s own HTTP cache, which is the technical means of delivering the page and is controlled through your browser settings.

Analytics

Not in use. No analytics technology operates on this website. The category is retained so that any future measurement technology is disabled by default and requires consent.

Marketing

Not in use. No advertising or audience measurement technology operates on this website. The category is retained on the same basis.

05 Third parties

No third party stores information on, or reads information from, your device through this website. The typeface and the code libraries used by this website are served from this origin rather than from a font service or content delivery network, with the result that no third party receives your IP address in the course of delivering these pages.

Our hosting provider delivers the pages and retains server logs. That processing is described in sections 3 and 7 of the Privacy Policy.

06 Giving and withdrawing consent

Consent is given through the banner displayed on your first visit, and may be revised at any time through Cookie Settings, available in the footer of every page. Withdrawal takes effect immediately and is no more difficult than giving consent.

07 Browser controls

Your browser provides its own controls for inspecting and deleting information stored by a website, generally under privacy or site data settings. Deleting this website’s stored data also removes the consent record, and the banner will therefore be presented again on your next visit.

08 Amendments

Any additional item stored on or read from your device will be recorded in section 3 before it is brought into use, and will be disabled by default. A material amendment resets the consent request rather than relying on a preference given previously.
